Fans of dark magic, secret bloodlines, and slow-burn reverse harem romance will devour this twisty, enemies-to-lovers academy series.
I didn’t ask to be special.
I sure as hell didn’t ask to be dragged through some glowing portal by a stranger with eyes as cold as diamonds.
But when a letter shows up—talking about bloodlines, magic, and something called the Veil—my already shitty life gets ripped apart.
Now I’m standing inside Blackthorn Academy, where monsters wear student uniforms and have factions, and humans like me aren’t supposed to exist.
Except…I’m not just human. Not anymore.
Powers are waking up inside me—and by waking up, I mean throwing temper tantrums and exploding out of me at really bad times.
Everyone here keeps staring like I’m some kind of ticking time bomb. They whisper like I can’t hear them. Plot like I’m not five steps ahead. And a few of them? They look at me like they’ve already made up their minds about what I am.
Too bad for them—I’m not here to play nice. I’m here to survive.
They say this school will protect me.
They’re lying.
Because something dark is coming through the Veil…and it’s coming for me.
If you love morally gray love interests, powerful heroines, and forbidden bonds, dive into Veilborn Academy.

Escaping the veilscape was only the beginning.
When I wake, the Council is waiting with a single answer to my power—bind it before it spreads. But their ritual fails spectacularly, ripping cracks through the Veil and unleashing magic no one knows how to contain.
Now the same people who tried to cage me need my help to repair the damage they caused.
The Veil is thinning. Strange distortions ripple across campus. Students are disappearing. And every hour the fractures widen, drawing something hungry closer to our world.
I’m the only one who can stabilize the Veil…but the more I do, the more my magic changes. It’s unpredictable, volatile, and I am nothing like what I was before.
If I can’t gain control, the Frostbound Term won’t mark a new beginning for Veilborn Academy. It will mark its collapse.
Book 2 of Veilborn Academy continues this dark-academy, slow-burn why choose filled with dangerous magic, unraveling secrets, and a heroine whose power refuses to stay buried.

I trusted the wrong person and was shoved into the Veil.
I came out changed—scarred, darker, and marked by power that burns in my veins.
The Veil didn’t kill me. It unlocked something worse.
Now I’m done being managed. Done being protected from myself. Done forgiving.
Auron betrayed me. His father ordered it. And I’m going to make them pay.
But revenge gets messy when the man who shoved me into darkness is the only one who truly understands what crawled back out. Hatred blurs into desire, and the line between enemy and ally vanishes.
The Veil claimed me as its own. The academy, the Bloodborn, and every hidden power beyond the wards are about to discover what that means.
They created the monster.
I’m done pretending I won’t unleash it.

I wake in my stifling apartment in the scorching heat of a town I thought I had escaped, the Academy and Veil nothing but a fading nightmare, until my five bonded men appear with no memory of our shared magic, our battles, or the fierce, possessive claims they once made on my body and soul.
Their eyes burn with unspoken hunger. My powers are gone, leaving me achingly ordinary while something dark bleeds through the thinning Realms, and the academy crumbles without us.
I’m losing my mind in this magicless cage, but I refuse to stay trapped.
I’ll tear the Veil open, drag every one of them back with me, and set everything right—even if it means destroying the monster who put us here.
Revenge has never tasted sweeter.
Wow! This was a good one. I’m elated to have discovered a new author (new to me), who writes RH Paranormal Romance. I’ve grown obsessed with them over the past couple of years. This checked off all of my boxes without being laced with sexual scenes that can sometimes dominate a RH to the point that there isn’t any mental connection, character or relationship building. Just porn on a page. This actually has no $ex scenes, a shared kiss or two and building tensions. I guess this is a slow-slow burn. But the lack of fiery passion never took away from the romance building. Well done.
Although, in book 1 we don’t get up close and personal with each character, by obtaining background stories and answers to some mysteries relating to their real interest in the FL; we got more of each character building a closeness with the FL. Even in their own point of view chapters it’s more centered around her and their budding feeling for her, with very small glimpses into their actual lives. I’m hoping that in the next book, we get more personal pov’s from the other characters.
Moreover, there were hints of the FL not being what people thought she was. The whole “Human” thing died in the beginning of the book, so what else do people think she is? Midway we are told what she’s supposed to be, but there is still mention after that, that she may not be even that (don’t want to spoil it). Therefore, on the FL’s true identity I’m a little confused. Hopefully book 2 will solidify what her origin and purpose truly is. Also, if she’s such a threat with practically the realms coming after her, she’s going to need another couple of mates/teathers/bonds (whatever) who are extremely powerful or none of them stand a chance.
Moreover, I love the female bff, wish to see more of her in the next book as well. Every RH with strong male characters needs a snarky & slightly reckless female best friend to balance out the masculinity.
All-in-all, this was a great start to a series. Besides writing a deeper relationship with each main character and a few more questions answered, I’m hooked. Book 2 can’t come fast enough.
Oh I forgot to add, I read this in two days. I started but had to work (this is why I buy the audible companions, but didn’t see an audiobook yet). I came back the next night and read through the night. It’s 3:53am here in NYC and I’m going to need a ton of coffee to function today. I just couldn’t put it down!!! -NYCToy
This book is so different than others. After a few pages it stuck in my head and even sleeping I dreamed about what would happen next. A human, not a human taken to a world she’s never seen or heard about. One that’s unbelievable to her. She’s trying to find out why and who she is, and we’re still wondering at the end of the book. Can’t wait to see how the prophecy she found is completed. If readers like supernatural books don’t miss this one. -Patty Bice
Absolute Perfection – My New Obsession!
I am officially breathless. From the moment I stepped into the halls of Veilborn Academy, I was hooked.
The Hidden Mark is a dark, atmospheric, and utterly addictive ride that kept me up until 3:00 AM.
The heart of this story is the incredible dynamic between Lindsey and the three guys who have completely stolen my heart: Nolan, Raider, and Kael. *
Lindsey is such a compelling FMC—strong, relatable, and navigating a world that feels both dangerous and enchanting.
• Nolan brings that nerdy, boy next door that I can't get enough of.
• Raider is pure fire and unpredictable energy.
• Kael provides that mysterious, soulful layer that ties the group together.
The slow burn chemistry between these four is electric. The world-building is seamless, the "Hidden Mark" mystery had me constantly second-guessing everything, and the cliffhanger? It should be illegal!
If you love dark academia, high-stakes secrets, and a "why choose" romance that actually has depth and soul, you need to read this book right now. I’m already counting down the seconds until Book 2.
Final Verdict: 5/5 Stars. If I could give it 10, I would! -misty
